 December 30, 2003"Yucca Plant"
Another shot to show the narrow depth of field that can be attained with the Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro lens. The tips of the yucca plant are in focus, but that's about it! |
 December 29, 2003"Fence Post"

 December 28, 2003"Pikes Peak"
I love having Pikes Peak just outside my window. It makes it easy to get a PAD image, even when I don't have the time, or a subject! This was shot just before dusk... |
December 27, 2003"Get to the Point James"
James got a piercing the other day... I tried to narrow the focus to just the piercing and his eye... The blur in the photo was achieved with limited depth of field, not in post processing. The Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens can limit DOF to 1 mm at 2.8 and closest focusing distance!! |
 December 26, 2003"Ethan"
Ethan taking a break from the action... |
 December 25, 2003"Thank You Jesus"
Josh made a birthday card for Jesus, thanking him for his sacrifice in the name of all mankind. He did this on his own, without any coaching or ideas coming from us... He is a pretty neat kid!! |
 December 24, 2003"New Christmas Pajamas"
Tracy's family has a tradition of opening their new Christmas pajamas every year on Christmas Eve. This is Jonah sporting his new PJ's. |
 December 23, 2003"Baby Bird"
An archive shot from May 2003 in Pendleton, Indiana. |
December 22, 2003"Love at Coit Tower"
This is another archive shot. I took this at Coit Tower in San Francisco in May 2003. I still have hundreds of images I've never looked at and this is one I found browsing through old folders. The Golden Gate Bridge is in the background... |
 December 21, 2003"Starbucks Ornament"
Tracy works at Starbuck's, and it was where we met about eight years ago. Soooo, I wanted to use a Starbucks image today, since it is our seventh wedding anniversary! |
December 20, 2003"My Patience is Gone"
Ethan decided he'd had enough of the Mall. He was ready to go do something fun and was not too shy about letting us know it. |
 December 19, 2003"The Warmth of Christmas" |
 December 18, 2003"The Odd Couple"
Just playing with some of my kids' toys. |
 December 18, 2003"The Movie Theater"
Four shot pano stitched together in Panorama Factory 3.0. |
December 17, 2003"Jonah in Swim Goggles"
Just a silly shot, but it had strong appeal to me. (I haven't figured out why just yet!) |

 December 13, 2003"James Version 2"
This is my nephew James. I played with this a little in Photoshop, the most noticeble change is the 'graininess' I added. |
Jeanne--gradientbk-Pbasej.jpgOK, before printing for matting and framing, let me know what you think of these two versions. Should I stick with the all white background, use a gradient background, or use the gradient-sepia background. I haven't made an image with the plain background, but in sepia, but that is an option as well. I would especially like Jeanne's input on this! Thanks,
JD

 December 12, 2003"PAD Workshop Week 2"
OK, This is not "my" shot for the day, but it is what I worked on tonight with respect to my photography hobby. This shot was posted as the PAD workshop at Patrick's site (vixeyswillie).
I took a shot at it, and really like what I came up with. The simple part was getting rid of the background. I painted over the background with white on a new layer, then cleaned up the edges with a soft edged eraser. I didn't like the way the baby on the right had his arm cut off at the edge of the photo. It took about four hours, but I was able to create the right side of the photo by cloning different areas in the photo. I had to recreate the baby's arm, and the mother's arm and leg. That was a pretty tough task, but I did it!! I also did a little dodging and burning, and some spot edits. Now it is time to go to bed!!!!! Goodnight to all! |
 December 11, 2003"Against My Religion"
If my clothes are wrinkled, I put them back in the dryer for a few minutes!! LOL (laughing, but still serious, no kidding).

My apologies, I've been swamped this week. I'll get back to daily photos as soon as I can.

My apologies, I've been swamped this week. I'll get back to daily photos as soon as I can.
I shot this in Woodbridge, Virginia early this year. This is a Photoshop technique I came up with (probably many others have done it before me, so I don't by any means claim this "technique or style") to look like part pen and ink drawing and part watercolor.

My apologies, I've been swamped this week. I'll get back to daily photos as soon as I can.
This was a poor quality, overexposed shot of Jonah, but it was fun to play with. This is probably too over-the-edge for most people, but Tracy and I love this photo/illustration. I can't remember what I did in Photoshop to get this, but I could probably go back and figure it out.

This shot was taken for the 'Egg' challenge at www.DPChallenge.com.
I tried to come up with something creative to do with an egg...
I like the results here. |

This is Pablo, a San Francisco street artist. I bought one of his paintings and his work is truly amazing. He creates these vivid images using plain old spray paint. Each image took him 10 to 15 minutes... Amazing! |
December 06, 2003"Ethan in the Sandbox"
We had a beautiful summer day today, in December, in Colorado... Ethan took advantage of the great weather to do a little sand-boxing. |
 December 06, 2003"Lunar Circle"
This full moon (or nearly full, maybe) may explain why my three boys were acting so weird today. They must be werewolves or something... |
 December 05, 2003"Six Seconds"
Long shot of our flag in front of our house... |
