A regular visitor during her 39-year career, the RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 made her last call at Newport, RI on September 17th, 2008. In November of that year she arrived in Dubai, UAE, intended to become a luxury hotel. Some work was performed before Dubai's economic crash put her conversion on hold. The latest I've heard: as of March 2011 she is still at Port Rashid with a skeleton crew. The CUNARD insignia is gone from her superstructure but there are no other external changes. Her powerplant still supplies her with electricity and she is fully seaworthy. There are a lot of rumors about her eventual fate, but no decisions. If you have any updates or corrections to that, please leave a comment and let me know! Please enjoy and thanks for looking. Original size view is highly recommended.
