A heavy snow highlights the line of the new retaining wall, topped by the metal guardrail. Five feet down is the pond bank, and ten feet beyond that, in all likelihood, is Jimmy Hoffa.

The fence line reminds me of the path often taken through areas of cryptobiotic soil. Mr. Hoffa is sleeping soundly in Notner.
