A Pleasant Place to Stop For a Beer

Byron spent a formative time of his youth in Sintra.
We enjoyed a beer here the day before but when we went back
later the next day it was closed.
Here is a poem Byron wrote about Sintra.

Lo! Cintra's glorious Eden intervenes
In variegated maze of mount and glen.
Ah me! what hand can pencil guide, or pen,
To follow half on which the eye dilates
Through views more dazzling unto mortal ken
Than those whereof such things the bard relates,
Who to the awe-struck world unlocked Elysium's gates?

Such pretty and colorful architecture! V
I remember seeing a beautiful caged African Gray parrot outside a shop or restaurant in Sintra. I wonder if it is still there?

I love these old hilly streets and wonderful buildings. Byron got quite carried away by Sintra it seems! This is a lovely shot with a great POV. BV

What a nice looking place. I'd sure hate to have to climb that hill, though! V.

A hilly street on a warm day would require a beer. A very pleasing image. Byron was too wordy..in my humble opinion.

fabulous scene rich in details...George did get around a lot...I remember seeing his name cut into the dungeon walls at Chillon in Switzerland...assume a beer was welcome here in the heat of the day..
