Devastated by the Great Hanshin Earth Quake on the 17th of January 1995, Kobe is being rebuilt into one of Japan's most futuristic cities. However, Kobe has long between unique due to it's large port, it has always been a place where new ideas have entered Japan. It was the place where bread first was made in Japan, and it's still famous for it's bakeries. There are places of worship of almost every religion, and there are many nationalities residing in Kobe, it is Japan's most cosmopolitan city.
Sannomiya Station is the centre of the action of Kobe, the five rail lines meeting there ensures it's almost always full of people. If you don't like crowds I recommend getting off a station prior to Sannomiya and walking.
Jazz and Blues music are also popular in Kobe, and on a warm night you can oft hear the sound of saxophone echoing off the pavement and through the buildings...
This gallery is a collection of photos from Kobe taken on various visits I've made there. The newest photos are placed at the beginning of this gallery.
