Pig sties, according tot he Pohnpei EPA are to be no closer than 50 feet from any water but it has been regularly observed that pigs are placed next to water supplies.

No, many of the pig sties are built almost directly on the water so it is easy to wash away the urine and feces but the contamination from leptospirosis can be of profound impact to human health with deaths on island attributed to this.

Seeing your other photos, I'm guessing it is safe to infer that at one time, this WAS away from the water's edge--maybe even the required 50 feet--and it is the water that has encroached.
