As hydropower dams were built, the original path of river Dalälven was changed. I guess this particular area was more like a valley in the past. The flume intake is located to the right in this picture.
Large chains of booms were used to stop the floating timber and keep it together in large formations. The flume was then fed at an appropriate rate through the intake by manual means.
