Hotels is something that needs to be constantly refurbished in order to attract guests. This magnificent hotel from the 1920s seems to have lacked just that and when exploring the vicinity, one understands that the underlying problem is worse than just lack of modernization. Although the hotel overlooks downtown Detroit and with a bit of good will, one can claim that it is within walking distance, this particular part of the town is really bad.

Hotel Americana and many other abandoned buildings fascinate me. On pbase.com I can explore them without being hurt by broken glass or a rusty nail; I can't fall through a floor nor have a ceiling or roof fall on me. Excellent photography. I am of 3rd generation Swedish and 4th generation English descent.
