The Merrymakers of the College Avenue Baptist Church enjoyed the hospitality
afforded by the Jacksonville, Ga., Lions Club as they toured the historical sites
and markers of Old Jacksonville, Ga. The Merrymakers breathed a sigh of
relief as they walked into the air-conditioned comfort of the clubhouse. The
Lions Club also provided fresh fruit, ice, restrooms and other amenities for the
weary tour group. Elizabeth and Charles Jones of Jacksonville, Ga., coordinated
arrangements there. Ann Watson and Judy Boggs brought along picnic
components and the outing was a huge success.

The following Merrymakers viewed the historical markers and sites of the old town and its area: Fannie Atkinson, Charles Batchelor, Frances Batchelor, Kathern Bennett, Judy Boggs, Bernice Byrd, Grace Collins, Hortense Day, Kathleen Fann, Sandra Frameli, Melba Giddens, Idell Gilliard, Harry Griffin, Pat Harmon, Clarice Hill, Kathryn Key, Nell Richey, Leah Smith, Jeanne Soar, Annie Maude Stodghill, Ann Watson, and Julian Williams. Julian Williams served as tour guide and furnished the group with an itinerary which included text and pictures.
