House of John, Jr. and Mary Lea Willcox

This excellent drawing is by M. Liggin. I will get her first name on as I receive it again from Skeet and Ruby Brown. The style of the home reflects prosperity but practicality. The center was open and the kitchen was probably at the back. The date on the picture (approx 1818) would have been the year son Mark Willcox was severely wounded at the Battle of Breakfast Branch. He went on to become a Major-General in the militia. According to Skeet Brown, the John Willcox house was struck by a tornado. What was left of the house was torn down. John D. Willcox gave Skeet's sister a window from the house which she had made into a very large picture frame which now contains pictures of the Willcox family.

Does anyone know what year it was torn down?
