With its recent expansion Nahanni National Park Reserve is now over 30,000 square km.
The park is located in the southwest corner of the Northwest Territories, in the traditional
territory of the Dehcho First Nations. It protects outstanding wilderness made up of rivers,
canyons, gorges, mountains, glaciers and alpine tundra. The park is centred on the valleys of
the South Nahanni and Flat Rivers. Most park visitors come to paddle the South Nahanni River
taking a visitor anywhere from 22days to 7days depending on your starting point. Some other
key features of the park are Virginia Falls, Rabbitkettle Tufa Mounds, Glacier Lake, The Cirque of
the Unclimbables and the Ram Plateau.
