About Caterpillar Flagging

i just learned about these. What an education I'm having following the first monarch caterpillars in my garden.

If you look at the very top of my image at the right you can see a tiny bit of the leaf connection to the step, bitten out by the caterpillar, so the leaf will hang down. Isn't that incredible?

That actually is pretty incredible. I never had any idea an activity like that occurred and just assumed it was bent down from their weight. Great shot and info, Isabel. ~BV~
