when thousand (millions?) of hopeful New Year's Eve revelers found they couldn't get to their celebration venues because the roads were coated with an icy mist that was imperceptible when simply looking through the window to see what the weather was like, and weather forecasters were caught unaware. Our three invited couples each called us last night to state the roads were impassable and that they were returning home. One couple, sadly got hit by two cars as they were trying to negotiate the hill up to our house.
