When there's bright sun out the highlights indicator in the viewfinder or on the lcd will show red where details will be burnt out, so I will make a minus exposure compensation. In the case of this image I somehow didn't see any red highlights indicator and didn't have to underexposed. As a result, the sky is less dramatically darkened by the underexposure.
