I love mourning doves. They are the most gentle and sweetest of birds. I do, however, wish they would make more protective nests. This one is waiting for the goldfinches, titmice and nuthatches to leave the sunflower feeder. While these doves are ground feeders, they've learned to perch on the spring-mounted squirrel proof feeder and apparently don't weigh enough to close the seed portals.
