The Dom and Weissensee Cemetery shots are amazing. The photo's recalling Germany's past during WWII are moving and difficult. I don't think highly of the Holocaust Memorial's design. What are all the large rectangles and their meaning? Tribute is a better Holocaust memorial. I'm not sure I want to see Berlin in person\. I think that your photographs will suffice. Good work, as usual, pal.

I have never been to Berlin and could feel from the photos so much of the past and future from your gallery. Nice job! So many great ones!

You saw so much, brilliantly capturing the legacy of the past and vibrant now of Berlin through its art and memorials. The explanations add historic and emotional depth to the well composed photos. This was a very moving set of pictures!

Thanks, Iris, for your views of Berlin and for your insights on how Germany has memorialized the holocaust. Your most expressive images are those that stress scale incongruities, and they can be enhanced by sizing them larger than usual. You are more of a historical documentary photographer in this gallery, moving away from your usual style as a "people" photographer. It is a worthy change of pace -- these images, mostly of places, posters, and art, tell a story in their own right, reminding us of a nation grappling with the legacy of its dark history.
