Canon A640

A few images taken underwater in Bonaire with a Canon A640 in a Canon WP-DC8 case.

Macro shots were taken using a homemade macro lens adapter and either an Inon UCL-165M67 Close-up Lens or a UN PCU-01 Close-up Lens.

Dear Ellen your pics are great u're a master in macrophotography. Should you buy only one of those macro lenses would you recommend the inon or the UN one ? I ask that because i wait my canon G9 and want a close up lens for it

Ellen, your photo's are absolutely stunning! Did you use an external flash with the A640, or the built-in one to take these pictures with?

Hi FH and Attaya, Here is a homemade solution for the Canon G7, WP-DC11 that should work for the WP-DC8, as well. http://www.digidiver.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1715 Mine was made with the port ring from an old PT-015 housing. They are excellent pictures. I also have A640 with WP-DC8 but I have no idea to attatch close-up lens. Could you recommen me please? Thanks.

Yes, it does have a hunting problem while focusing in macro. It was very hard to get accustomed to it after using the Olympus 5050 which locks in focus so quickly. The shot to shot times are faster than the 5050 but the focusing is much slower and less reliable. So far, I don't think I would want to rely on this camera as my only camera for underwater (I still have and use the Oly 5050). That said, I am having lots of fun using the A640 with the add-on lenses and although it can be very frustrating and hit or miss, when it gets the focusing right (or I do!) the results can be great!

Excellent pictures. My C-8080 drowned not long ago and I am thinking of buying another camera, looks like the A640's not bad. Does it have hunting problem while focusing in Macro?
