Calle de Toledo de Ohio

Toledo, Spain

(Toledo, Ohio Street) I found this sign when I was walking through Toledo by myself during free
time after our guided tour ended. I am from Ohio so I thought it was neat to see a sign for Toledo
when I was in Spain. The circle on the top left of the sign shows the Great Seal of the State of
Ohio. The circle on the top right shows a two headed eagle which was the symbol of the
Hapsburgs. They used to be the ruling family in Spain. In Spanish they are frequently called
"los Austrias" (the Austrias) because they also ruled Austria.

I have found a possible answer to your question about why there is a street named for Toledo, Ohio in Spain. Toledo, Spain and Toledo, Ohio are sister cities. This site gives more information about the program:http://www.sister-cities.org/

Perhaps Toledo named the street after Toledo, Ohio because the two cities are sister cities. Calle de Toledo de Ohio literally means Street of Toledo of (belonging to) Ohio.

Any idea how/why this street came to be named Toledo de Ohio?
