Randy Joiner and I used to pal around in the late 1950's and early 1960's when he and his brother Ray Joiner came down from Auburndale to spend the summer with their mother Dottie and the Lavallie family across the street from my home in Hialeah. Randy and I had not seen each other since 1968 when I was in the Coast Guard in Tampa and I went over to spend the weekend with him and his buddies in Auburndale. It was pure coincidence that he found my website and wrote me two days before our planned trip to nearby Lakeland so that Karen could attend a hostess chapters meeting for a large convention next year in Tampa and that I only had to drive a few minutes to meet up with him for the first time in 42 years. We spent a couple of hours seeing sights in Tampa before driving back to pick up Karen and we'll get together again next year while I have to be in Tampa for the convention.
