This young male was found with a broken wing at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
One of the Security agents captured it and promptly called a local wildlife rehabber who specializes in raptors.
(Of course he asked me if I had my camera handy first, and, as luck would have it, I did!)
A kestrel is small North American falcon (Falco sparverius) that hovers over fields and pastures, feeding chiefly on insects and mice. Also called American Sparrow Hawk.
The young raptor is in good hands now & hopefully his wing will heal & he will return to the wild.
Aren't his colors lovely
I think this is one of the prettiest small falcons
his little talons are so colorful
The rehabber gently checks him over to determine the extent of injury
