J17 is a '36 Jacoby "Flyaway" model built in North Bergan, New Jersey, by "Pop" Jacoby.

It was to race in the Midget Class of the APBA and the NOA. It was powered by a small 6 hp. nitro burning Evinrude "Midget Racer" also from 1937. Jane raced this boat along with her father and husband at races all over the northeast.
