JerryCurtis (01/09/2010 @ 09:04:16 EDT)Ja is the daughter of a latin couple who has a band out of Vancouver, called the Riosayama Band, which does a mix of latin and gypsy type music and dance. They were performing on stage at the Cupids Newfoundland 400th anniversary celebrations (John Guy's colony from 1610). Ja not only dances, but also plays a variety of percussion instruments as well as making some hauntingly beautiful sounds with a saw and a violin bow. She came out into the concert grounds with this dance and I just jumped up with my Sony H5 and 1.7X teleconversion lens and snapped this one hurridly when I saw the move. I was talking to her later and she's a total sweetie (only 24 years old and just gorgeous). The whole band was impressed with the shots I got - especially this one - and I sent them half a dozen for their website.
