The Savannah River is a major river in southeastern US
that forms most of the border between the states of
South Carolina and Georgia, and is important to Georgia's
economy. In Savannah the river is tidal, which surprises
visitors who return to downtown later in the day and
find it flowing the opposite direction. The river
broadens into an estuary before flowing into the ocean.
