I have had some beautiful mornings gazing out at this vew across the Minch with the triple standing turrets that make up the Old Man of Storr but never had I been there with a sky of this quality. It begged to be photographed but I knew the contrast would be pushing my Fuji Velvia to the limit. Timing was crucial and as a swathe of light cut its way toward me I waited for it to illuminate the foreground grasses but not my own lofty perch and tripped the shutter just before it reached me thus minimising the contrast between ground and sky.
