Pinnacles Square

Old Man of Storr, Skye, Scotland

Sunrise at one of the most magnificent views in the UK. An hours hike starting in darkness through a dense eerie pine woods will eventually bring you onto the lowest slopes in deep twilight and a gradual slow procession up the hill into the most remakable landscape. This morning the view had been obscured by low cloud and it seemed less than promising but at the first kiss of sunlight the mist rose about 30 feet and Oh my goodness the light!! A scene bathed in burnished gold almost red sunlight and beyond a sky of pink. This was the very first splinters of dawn and in less than two minutes the scene looked comparatively ordinary. For the next hour I just watched as the world unfolded with a grin like a Cheshire cat.

comments remind me of an Ansel Adams quote: "Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter." Beautiful light!! -BJ

You are SO making me want to visit Scotland again... this time as a photographer. What a stunning scene. It's always rewarding when you put the effort in for a special shot, and this one is truly special.
