Daybreak

Old Man Of Storr, Skye, Scotland

If ever I question the reason for getting up at an ungodly hour and traipsing through boggy pine woodland and thence over steep terrain in the eerie twilight world of pre-dawn, this shot and most assuredly the honey light of a new breaking day answers the question by the spade full. The joy I felt as sunlight pierced the clouds and turned the hills lemon yellow is something you have to experience for yourself and quite beyond my capability to express in mere words. If you look down on the left hand peak you can see a couple of my fellow photographers equally engaged. I found myself bellowing "helloo down there, good morning" at the top of my voice, I probably looked a fine sight high above them on the cliff top an inane grin stretching ear to ear and the sunlight glinting off my fillings!!
