With surprising inexorable rapidity the incoming tide consumes the sand flats that stretch out before the imposing bulk of Castle Stalker built astride a grass covered plinth. The setting sun sidelit the castle and I positioned myself far enough around to render the castle with a stripe of sunlight down its western flank at the same time nestling it between the valley of the hills beyond. It was a scene of utter tranquility and pure magic.
