I found the larger (about 5cm long) of these two last week, when out walking on Fovant Down
(how apposite...!); and had put it aside, as something to possibly photograph at some undefined future time....
However, this morning, in preparation for my mum and dad visiting, I was fluffing up the cushions on the settees in the main room,
and came across the smaller one (2.5cm -- probably cushion fodder...): which I thought complemented the other one perfectly.
There's something about the contrast between the pristine barbs and the way that the other, more downy, ones
seem to have developed into mini fractal trees, that I find quite fascinating....
(With apologies to Alan Sherman....)
