"Chiselbury is an Iron Age hill-fort on a prominent location above the village of Fovant
and looks down over a scarp on which the famous Fovant Badges have been set out.

"The hill-fort looks northwards from the distinct scarp edge location across the valley of the River Nadder.
To its south the high chalk plateau contains extensive remains of prehistoric settlements and field systems, presumably defended by this fortification in times of trouble.
The ridgeway track to the south of the camp, which runs the length of the chalk scarp, is likely to have formed an important route though the territory in prehistoric times.

"The entrance to the hill-fort is at the southeast, with a slight semi circular outwork intended to defend the entrance.
The rampart is high, rising to some 3.6 metres in places and the external ditch has a depth of 1.6 metres.

"On the north and south sides of the hill-fort, cross-dykes have been found which seem to have the purpose of preventing movement along the ridge.
These will be contemporary with the fortification."
