The current NYC Government and NYU2031 Plan calls for the destruction of the entire garden and children's playground areas along LaGuardia Place to Mercer Street to build 2 new boomerang skyscraper buildings. The plan will destroy an off the street already existing children's playground along with street park strips, the WSV Sasaki Garden and Landscape, and well over 400 mature trees and bushes.
NYU has called a small garden plot between the boomerang buildings in their plan - a "Philosophy Garden".
