Never really think why I like to take pictures and never wonder what I'm going to do with those pictures I took until recently. Everything has to have a purpose, I might never figure out but I like to try.
I took a lot snap shots to where I travel and family events. After a while, I am not so happy with just taking these kind of photos, I started to try something else, I started to notice things with fine details, vivid colors, and unusual shapes, try to make a image to match what I saw, but soon find out it's not that simple. Soon, I started to squeeze out every penny I can get to buy the best film, prime lenses, and use pro-lab for processing. I got very excited with the results, but, there is still something missing...... until I found out black and white photography.
After read the "trilogy" from AA (Ansel Adams), I was hooked. After developed the first roll, I was excited, and after see the first print emerged from the tray, I knew this is IT! Ever since then, my photography became simple, no more color for me except some travel and family events.
Now I know, the tool is just a tool, it can help you feel better (I really really wanted _____ camera and _____lenses!) but it won't help you to make a good image. I started to think about why and how to take pictures and the purpose or story behind the pictures, but for now I still don't know why and what about photography, still wondering, still carry a camera with a prime lens on it... I already give up zooms and auto-everything camera. I have been playing with the same camera and lens for a long time, I know what I can get from the tool, and it’s all up to me now.
So, here we are, looking at my pictures without knowing why and how.
Thanks for looking.
This one was taken with a old Kodak folding camera. Lens looks crapy and shutter is not working properly. I were surprised by how many details this image has.
