Golden spike at the railroad depot

"First presidential visit
President Warren G. Harding, First U.S. president to visit Alaska,
travelled here to pound the golden spike signalling completion of the
Alaska Railroad from Tidewater to the interior
on July 15, 1923"

The old Railroad Depot was completed in 1923. In that year on July 15 president Warren G. Harding drove the golden spike at Nenana, signifying the completion of the Alaska Railroad. The presidential railroad car 'Denali', that Harding used in 1923, is now on display in Pioneer Park (Alaskaland) in Fairbanks.
The depot was renovated in 1988. It houses the Alaska State Railroad Museum.
