Joop's Dog Log - Friday Mar 12

I’m sad and sick after what happened in Madrid, Spain yesterday.
It’s the same story again,
the story of RAF, KKK, IRA, PLO, PKK, FNL, IMU, ETA,
of Al-Qaeda, At-Fatah, Al-Jihad, Islamic Jihad, New Jihad,
and all the many other groups.
Hate, cowardice, death of arbitrary victims.
Angry humans with bombs making the same fatal and cruel mistakes,
again and again.
All I can give you today is a great big howl

A big howl back to you dear Joop. If I had a shirt I would rip it in sorrow. Our hearts are with the people (and pets) of Spain.

Yes Joop, they do it around the corner in the neighbourhood too, in old Europe..and it is hard to understand that many of those "terrorists" had same roots as real democrats relying on discussion and verbal fights to change things. The former RAF here in Germany didn`t only kill humans, but also the trust in democratic ways of finding solutions.Have a nice Friday!

That looks like a really LOUD howl! ;-) :-)
I know, it makes me sick, too. People make the same mistakes and expect different results. Why? Are we THAT stupid? I`d like to think that humans are more intelligent than that, but I keep getting proven wrong, again and again.
Much love to you and your human. Life is too short. Keep howling! ;-)

Primal Howl!!!Man`s ignorance & narrow-minded hatred is gaining on us. It`s as in Lord of the Rings: Good vs Evil. T`was ever thus.
A letter claiming resonsibility for Thursday`s attack was delivered to a London-based Arab newspaper. It also mentioned "We bring good news to Muslims of the world that the expected `winds of black death` strike against America is now in its final stage" and that the strike was "90% ready and God willing, near." True? We don`t know, yet.

Oh Joop, I didn`t hear from Madrid until now - it`s so sad. But now I know the reason Billy howls this morning. He usually don`t howl at this time.
Strong picture of you, Joop! :) Hardy & the K-pack

We watch the news and get so hardened, so used to the bad stuff that it makes us numb. Not this time. I watched and listened, and couldn`t help but cry. Just like 9/11, it`s overwhelming in its scope and the grief just comes, along with feelings of helplessness and rage.
I called over Ben, who is such a great dog for consoling people, and just hugged him. It helped a little, but not much.

I`m right there with you, Joop: hoooooooooowl! We humans should take a cue from you dogs -- my dogs see every new person they meet as a new friend. Wouldn`t it be nice if humans had the same attitude?
Wish I could be there to give you scritches behind the ears and cookies, but since I`m half a world away, I`ll just send love and hugs from me and my dogs and cats to you and your humans.

We`re howling along, too. It makes me so sad. There is so much hatred in the world. We should all just sit down with a bunch of cookies and realize that we don`t have to be best friends, but this shamless cowardace and killing has got to stop.

Yes, Joop, your human listed off the alphabet soup of evil in the world. Hard to know what to do about evil like that...it is clever along with being murderous. Maybe you have the right idea...howl. I don`t think we humans know how to fight it, how to stop it.

Joop, your image reminds me of Picasso`s "Guernica" which always speaks to us and unfortunately reminds us how often these horrible events occur

Yes Joop, just like that song "Where is the love?". I think that people forgot how to love one another. Instead we fight each other for dumb reasons. We, humans, should be more like you Joop! Animals can be cruel sometimes, but always fair with their attitudes.

"Joop, I would love to run in the fields and chase rabbits with you! And I know that feeling of getting frustrated when you wake up from a wonderful dream and realize you actually live in the `bombing` world. My human and I often talk about that feeling. I usually lick her feet to show her I am at her side." Flô

Your`s is surely one of the more moving tributes, Joop, and it echoes my feelings very well. Sometimes you just want to open yr mouth and let it all out. I`m also moved by the demonstrations of the people in Spain. Thousands of people on the streets, making known their heartfelt grief. Sometimes this life is very hard.

Agree completely with your eloquent sentiments.

And that is a truly great dog photo.
virginiacoastline12-Mar-2004 11:53
I can almost HEAR the painful wail this dog is expressing. Perfect for today. And I echo your sentiments. Every terrorist action is one against us all, not just the actual victims.
Chris12-Mar-2004 09:37
I'm sure these sentiments are echoed by folk around the globe. A sad day for man and beast alike. CH.
Adalberto Tiburzi12-Mar-2004 06:52
Good idea Henk, I would do something for the victims, though I haven't a dog like yours who can help me... :-(
