Joop's Dog Log - Thursday Jan 08

Once a week it`s market day in my town.
A few streets from where I live they build up an open air market, just for one day.
I`m always excited to go there.
This here on the right is a butcher, there`s a cheese booth and a bakery booth,
and a little further down there`s a guy roasting nuts.
Sometimes I find something good that has been dropped.
And all those smells, ahhhh...
this is sniff sniff sniffer`s paradise!

Oh, Joop, I truly know what you mean about finding things that have been dropped! It always tastes better if you have scavenged it! Love, Dottie

Ahhh, something about forbidden fruit, eh, dude? Yup, same with photos. Sometimes those one sneaks are the best of all. And I think you show remarkable restraint in not lunging at the butcher, or barking loudly and scaring a customer who then drops his cheese. Tell me tho, do you really get to roam with no leash? I mean, I know you`ve had problems in the past with big mouthed boy dogs. I guess yor`re cured of the need to show them whose biggest and best? Good lad! Well, I should have known. You are *some* guy!!

Joop, you look so happy here and its easy to understand why. There are also open air markets like this in China.

Our market moves inside for the winter, but the rest of the year it is outdoors. A great scavenging place for sure. Do you have live animals there? People sell kittens, and baby chicks, and roosters and pigeons at our market. And lots of great produce, but not so much meat for us carnivores. Plenty of baked goods though...

It was about 11 deg here last weekend, and I did find some crocus tips poking out as we were removing our outdoor Christmas lights. The freeze/thaw doesn`t seem to hurt them though. We often have a warm spell in early spring when all the bulbs shoot up, and then it gets very cold again. The tips turn blueish/grey, but they seem to survive just fine.

Brass monkey weather - well, its an expression we use, perhaps not appropriate for flogging - but I`ll try : "It`s cold enough to freeze the ***** off a brass monkey" Not that a neutered dog would have anything to worry about :-)

LOL @Gundog.. we say that here too...! That market looks like a lot of fun, Joop! Dusty and I would love to run around there with you, but I doubt we would be able to show as much restraint as you do...

Haaa haaa haaa...gundog...we say that here, too. We have these markets too, every Wednesday in Ann Arbor. They call `em Farmers Market. Lots of stuff to look at and buy. I`ve seen a few dogs in our market, but none as well-behaved as you. I bet market day is really fun for you.

Hey, Joop, Flint`s humans haven`t been letting Flint on the computer, but I promise he`ll have a new photo (and a chance to visit) later today. I know he misses seeing what everybody`s up to, and I know he`ll be disappointed that he can`t be with you at the market — he loves places that smell good! Take care.

Joop, how have you been?! I`ve missed so much (my humans can be such nuisancess ... first the photographer one had the flu, then they were busy with their work — and all the while I just wanted to see what all my friends were up to!). But the park pony, and the scrounger, and the yummy market — it sounds like lots have been going on. I hope you found some good scraps at the market today, and I hope my humans won`t fall so behind in my fotologging again!
