Mill and castle

Vernon, France

Le Vieux-Moulin (The Old Mill) rests on ancient bridge piers above the Seine river and in front of the castle
of Tourelles at Vernon, France. The stone piers are from a bridge built in the 12th century. The watermill
was built in the 16th century and had a wheel that used the flow of the river to drive a flour mill. The bridge
was destroyed by flooding in the late 1600s and the mills wheel disintegrated over the centuries,
but the building remains. The castle was built in 1196. More photos from France are in my Cities, places gallery.
