Szeged is located on the Great Plain of Hungary, within a few miles of the Romanian and Serbian borders. Its main claim to fame outside of Hungary is the place where Szeged Hungarian Paprika comes from. But in our day-long visit here, on a brilliantly sunny day (for a change, although there was still some snow on the ground from last week's snowstorm despite the 16 degree Celsius weather), we discovered that in fact Szeged has an even greater claim to fame -- its wonderful architecture. It reminds me of Budapest with its incredibly rich variety of structures, but they are mainly restored in Szeged.
