Go to jail for failing to leash your dog?

Lincoln Park is federal property, policed by the US National Park Service. There has always been a regulation in force that dogs must be on a leash, which people generally ignore and rangers rarely enforce. Suddenly, under the new crackdown on the “out-of-control crime” in the District, this sign appeared Saturday at the park, threatening a fine or imprisonment if your dog isn’t on a 6 foot long or shorter leash. We’re expecting that park rangers are going to start ticketing as many people (and their dogs!) as possible to boost their numbers for eliminating “crime” in DC. I should add that in the past, when a person got caught with their dog off leash, the park ranger usually only threatened a fine, never imprisonment.

Also, there has been a group of neighbors who bang pots and pans in the park every evening at 8 p.m. to protest Trump’s takeover of DC law enforcement. It’s been a regular event for almost a month now, but last week a police officer intervened and asked if the group had a permit. Of course they don’t, so I’m not sure what the fallout will be, but I’m told that they intend to continue their protest.

People who bang pots and pans will soon be fined for street disturbance, or spend a few days in the shade. Your Trump doesn't know what to invent to get people talking about him. Pathetic!

What happens to those who don't pick up after their dogs? I can see the fine thing, but imprisonment if a dog is on a flexi lead. Really?

Imprisonment? No way... V

Good Grief! Seems like the idiots in charge what consequences for peoples actions but they never seem to have to suffer any consequences for their actions.

Prison time for poop is ridiculous! I love the pots and pans idea. It needs to be done in front of the White House. V

Wow! That is really harsh. Surely, and not so slowly, things are taking a darker turn. Good for the folk who bang their pots and pans. Another sign of dictatorship is when dissenters are jailed, even for banging pots, or not leashing their dog. Crazy.

Yeah, that's a bit harsh, though I'd like to fine the potatoheads that don't pick up after their dogs!

Kinda hard to tell if this is a crack down or crack up. Probably the former cuz what's happening now isn't at all funny.

Will they imprison people together with their dogs? ;)
globalgadabout08-Sep-2025 13:34
wow....frightening...the authoritarian regime is gradually tightening the noose...the current mindset in US government, at several levels, is well beyond the reasonable, and verging on the fascist...

Eh, your National Guards will have something to do!
