I was on the island at Constitution Gardens looking out on the lake when this mallard and her male friend came marching up to me looking for a handout. I didn’t include my foot in the picture, but she was literally inches from my toes. When I had nothing to offer, to say nothing of the fact that you aren’t supposed to feed the wildlife, she turned away and went looking for a softer touch. The same thing happened on a previous visit; maybe it was the same duck!
