Zojoji Temple, Tokyo

This is the main hall of Zojoji Temple, I believe taken at New Year’s, when people make visits to the many Buddhist temples around Tokyo. In the distance is Tokyo Tower.

Below is a shot of our woodblock print by Hiroshige titled “Zojoji Temple at Akabane,” from his “100 Famous Views of Edo” series, created in 1857. We bought it when we were living in Tokyo and took it with us all over the world during Tim’s Foreign Service career.

Great capture of the architecture. I like how the radio tower (?) curves similarly to the temple. V
