Some things change, some remain the same

This is the audience at the “Ambitious Nation” celebration of Saudi Arabia’s national day. It’s good to see that the sexes are now allowed to mingle in public, although Saudi women are still wearing the hijab (covering everything but their eyes) and black abaya, whether by choice or requirement I don’t know. (The few women wearing simple headscarves are most likely foreign nationals.) Still, there have been other tremendous changes in the Kingdom, such as women finally being allowed to drive, a huge advancement for them.

This is quite a remarkable sight - things have changed since you were there, but of course, slowly. Still, perhaps more to come! V

Interesting, just two days ago, on Mt Rainier, I passed by and smiled with two women, both wearing hijab and abaya!

So neat seeing the different culture shown here. The woman in the left lower corner really drives the point home.

Nice shot by Tim to show this. If it wasn't for the hijabs and abayas this could be almost anywhere, though it appears that the women have congregated together for the most part.

It really is interesting and, I guess, encouraging that they are making some progress at catching up with the western world in this regard. Great story telling image Tim. ~BV~

This image really gives us a culture study. An eye-opener... VV~

Notice there were a couple of women at the back (on the right side of the photo) who did not have their faces fully covered ... so maybe this was a choice and not a requirement...? We could say that there had been significant advancement already from 2016 to now ... even in the US, women's suffrage did not happen overnight, lol! V
