Port of Yokohama

I finally found my film pictures from our first tour in Japan, 1991-1995, when we lived in Yokohama for a year and then on the embassy compound in Tokyo. We also took the opportunity to see as much of the country as possible, mainly by car. We were subsequently posted to Okinawa, from 2000 to 2003, so were able to really experience the whole of this marvelous country. I already have several galleries from our years in Okinawa posted on this site, the main one being http://pbase.com/helenpb/images_of_okinawa since I started using a digital camera in 2001.

Impressive, though I'm not sure how they are getting that ship out of there!

That's a nice view of the port area taken from this vantage point, juxtaposing that sailing ship that seemed to be from a different time period with the modern office buildings around. V

This is lovely to see, and note how much the area has changed since. Although the ship is still there it is dwarfed by a series of huge office buildings. Those opened in 1997, my first time in Japan.

A wonderful juxtaposition of old and new with the magnificent tall ship and the modern buildings.

Fabulous view and photo, especially of this old ship. I remember riding what at that time was one of the world's biggest ferris wheels in Tokyo in September of 2001. Excellent comp and capture Helen. ~BV~
