A bit of the Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a landlocked salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Israel to the west. Due to its surface far below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest land-based elevation on earth and is also one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water.

Did you go swimming? Israel has some very popular swim beaches along the Dead Sea. A dip in salt water there is quite the experience! However, the beach in your above photo doesn't seem that appealing for recreational use. The swim beach where we spent a beach day didn't "look" this salty. Still, the water definitely was salty.

I followed your link. The first photo was a shocker. Climate Change seems to be affecting the Dead Sea like it has been changing the Great Salt Lake here in the US. The state of so much of our natural World doesn't look good for future generations.

I wonder how much of that has evaporated since then. A good view of the briny shoreline.
