‘Can we please go home now??’

We took Queenie to the vet last week because she had a wound (like a hole, really) on her back that looked quite ugly when I first saw it. We couldn’t figure out how it happened – she hadn’t been bitten or stung, and the vet couldn’t really tell either, but he cleaned it and gave us antibiotics to administer at home. Right after we left, though, he called me and said I had been right in my suggestion that it may have been due to a bump on her back that I had pointed out on a previous vet visit. He said it appeared to be a cyst that had burst and that they’re usually benign. Luckily she wasn’t in pain and never tried to scratch it, but it sure gave us a scare when it first appeared. We had first thought of going to emergency care, but since it wasn’t an emergent situation, the wait would have been at least five hours, so we decided to wait to see our vet.
