The Robert A. Taft Memorial and Carillon was dedicated in 1959 to US Senator Robert Alphonso Taft, the son of President William Howard Taft.
Above the statue is inscribed, "This Memorial to Robert A. Taft, presented by the people to the Congress of the United States, stands as a tribute to the honesty, indomitable courage, and high principles of free government symbolized by his life."
It’s situated on the US Capitol grounds, but I don’t think many people are aware of its existence, although everyone has heard of the more famous Netherlands Carillon, located across the Potomac River in Virginia.
