Previously a school, now a senior center

The Rutherford B. Hayes School was constructed in 1897 and now houses the DC Office on Aging’s Hayes Senior Wellness Center. Interestingly, there's an active playground with slides and all in the side garden.

It looks very lovely and you framed it nicely. It’s nice to hear that it is has the playground even though it is an aging center. The gates do give it a feeling of a jail. There are a lot of contrasts here. V

Building looks to be in good shape but no American flag and the bars on the entrance looking unwelcoming.

A playground with slides for the elderly? Now that could be fun and sight to see.

Stately old school building in good condition. The barred entrance seems more fitting for a prison.

Us oldies might like a go on the slide or swing set sometime - ha, ha! What a lovely building except for the addition of the iron gates.

Wonder if this is a commentary of the aging of America- Less need for schools and more need for senior facilities.
