I had photographed this tulip in our rose bed yesterday, before it had started to open (and was a pretty dull pink) but decided to try again today, when it reached 79 F (26 C).

Unfortunately, the tulips in our back yard are the only ones we’ll have this year since the many we planted in front – as we have for years -- had to be pulled out due to some fungus called Tulip Fire. Apparently we’re also supposed to wait three years before planting bulbs in that garden again :-(.
