This great blue heron was the “unexpected flyby” in the previous/ below picture. He parked himself on top of a tree close by and sat there for quite a while. I was excited to see him since my old friend the heron hasn’t returned to Constitution Gardens in the District this year, and I needed a GBH fix.

Taken in dreadful weather at Piscataway National Park on the Maryland side of the Potomac River.

unsharp.
