Where have all the eagles gone

Many of these old lamp posts in Washington are topped by bald eagles, the symbol of the United States. It appears that some of them have been replaced by pigeons.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

The pigeons seem to have found the perfect perch. The lamp has a beautiful vintage design.

I had the same thought as Dennis! I wonder what that pipe is, sticking out?

The pigeons go nicely colour wise with the lamp post :) V
I wonder what the strange contraption attached to the post is all about ??

Aren't pigeons relatives to doves? That would be a good thing for the US.

A sign of the times, I guess.

That is an interesting question. Eagles would look much more regal up there. America is not what it used to be. V

Hmm, pigeons leave their “calling cards” behind while the eagles wouldn’t.

A rather poor substitute in my opinion. But then again there are quite a few symbols of America that seem to be getting replaced these days by something inferior.

I guess pigeons will have to do. Nice shot.
