Guarding the Supreme Court

The Nation Guardsmen have weapons and ammunition; the Capitol Police officers’ guns are loaded.

*****

We went down to the US Capitol, or at least as close as we could get, to see what things looked like. I'd have to say it was an almost surreal way to spend a Sunday afternoon -- photographing the many Capitol Police, National Guardsmen, Metropolitan Police, military trucks, police cruiser roadblocks and high fences that now populate our beautiful city. I'm hoping that we can all come together as a country and put a quick end to this kind of thing because this is no way to live.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

It was scary to hear about the guard being infiltrated. Interesting eye contact. V

This is a strong commentary on the state of the union these days!! A time that should be joyful and celebratory has become one of fear and threats. V

A very strange image giving a strange impression ! Body expressions of the two on the right, no masks for some of them, two looking like Kurdish fighting women,...V.

It looks like a state of siege. But we do not do better in France, with the police facing the demonstrators and "Black blocs" which ransacks the shops of the Champs Elysées

José, it is a war. An undeclared civil war.

Good point Hank. Does that tell us something about their political persuasion?
Isabel Cutler19-Jan-2021 14:52
I'm just wondering what percentage of our National Guard is Trumpist. Very concerning.

A sad reflection of our times unfortunately Helen. I am surprised the allowed you to take pictures. Also surprised that two of the soldiers are very close together whilst not wearing face masks.

Hard to see this as a celebration when the streets look like this.
