Uneasy times

Taken on the next block over from ours, looking towards Lincoln Park.

Several people have asked if we’re OK, with the violent protests taking place in DC several nights in a row and expected to continue tonight. We aren’t located very close to the White House or the vandalized downtown area; however, last night two large chain pharmacies in our larger neighborhood and a smaller one some nine blocks away were looted.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

What a tragic series of events in your country. Violence begets violence. There are no easy answers, but a call for "domination" from your president certainly is not helping.

Stay safe.

Very troubling and scary times...interesting to see that that is scrawled on a sidewalk instead of hopscotch squares like the old days. Hope everything is well with you and your neighborhood.

I’ve been thinking of you all day and am so glad you’re safe. Incredible scenes in DC today.

Hopefully the outpouring of emotion will have some effect on the police and the politicians. V

When I heard of the protests in DC I wondered how close you might be. Glad it is not very, nonetheless it is unsettling to hear of looting too close, but also unsettling to hear of the dreadful death of George Floyd.

I like the sentiment and your capture of it. I’m glad you are safe. The looting got to about 2 miles from my house. There was a peaceful BLM protest Saturday morning and a couple of people started spray painting police cars and torching them The looting started a short time after. A woman defending a store was beaten severely with a 2 by 4. It was scary.

a lot of anger is coming out that built up over decades of discrimination and violence...the murder of Mr Floyd was the final straw...change has to come, starting with police, who are employed to uphold the law, and not to kill citizens..
